Hello Peeps. Been a minute. Lol.
Happy New Year guys. I know I'm a tad late but better late than never innit? May this year be greater than our last!!!!
Okay guys, today I don't have any words of wisdom or school of thought. I'm just here to vent. Lol. Omo. Country tough o. That's all I can say mehn.
So I was coming back from work today, only to bring out money to pay the driver for his service after dropping me at my bustop, just to realize I left my purse at work. How much did I want to pay the guy, just N100 o. N100 that I didn't have. I searched and searched, omo. I no see anything o. I begged the driver to please let me go and borrow from someone to pay, and he actually waited for me to go and borrow to pay him. Infact, by the time I was coming to meet him, he was already coming to look for me. This man in question looked old enough to be my grandfather o. Lol. The passengers too were something else. They just sat there silently like nothing was happening. I ended up borrowing from someone I barely knew, to pay him and went back to work in search of my purse which I eventually found but this event just made me realise how alone we all are in this life and how harder the economy keeps getting.
Times are different. While I was growing up, if you ever got stranded, a complete stranger could come to your rescue, or the driver may just unhappily let you go but this man was bent on me paying, even when he could see that I was stranded. People are getting colder and colder and not for the better but for the worse, but you can't blame them. Life changes people. Nigeria changes people. Situations changes people. The last time I tried to help a stranger, I got robbed. Nowadays , I even have Ptsd for borrowing because of all the money I lost in the past to borrowing. I don't have much to borrow but I'lld rather give what I have, that's even if I have this days. Nevertheless, people dey suffer o. If that driver could have been so mean to me because of N100, then isn't this country just amazing?
Life is becoming harder and tougher to sustain with each new Government in power. Lol. I'm not gonna talk Politics today, but there is nothing like a better Government. It's thesame people, thesame motives but different names and faces which will ultimately lead to the same result which is usually no result. Sadly, I'm making sense but going off point, lol. So that's a story for another day.
So any way todays event made me realise how nobody is your keeper unless there is something in it for them. Lol. You think you got friends? Lol. Naw Fam. Your friends got YOU. Same way you are happy you got THEM. If you are not gaining now, probably you feel they'll be useful some day, likewise them. Lol. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying unconditional friendships don't exist. It's just, finding something pure and genuine these days is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. It's not impossible but we are only but humans after all and I really hope we won't have to fall into a Canal until we realize it is only God who can bring us out. Now you're thinking of your friends and wondering who's really gotchya back. Why didn't you think of whose back you got. Truth is, we are all selfish and full of crap. We have all in one way or the other been that shitty friend, that shitty roommate or lover and we all can definitely do better. Be better. I don't know about you all but I'm just going through life knowing that when push comes to shove, only God can come through.
